In doing so, this can have a negative impact on the pending 2600 federal and state opioid lawsuits. Before the filing, however, the owners of Purdue Pharma, the Sackler family, allegedly transferred from the company $1 billion dollars into their Swiss bank accounts, most likely avoiding any direct hit on their personal wealth and assets.
Why is this evil? As the wealthiest country in the world, we should have some form of safety net programming to support families facing their last housing option – living on the street. And the federal government’s lack of any significant response to this critical social issue is a moral travesty.
