Know your Senator

United States Senate

Members of the U.S.Senate are elected every 6 years.  Each state elects 2 senators.

The Congress of the United States is made up of 100 elected Senators along with 435 Members of the House of Representatives.

As specified in the U.S. Constitution, Congress (the Senate and the House of Representatives), the Executive Office of the President, and the Supreme Court, constitute the co-equal branches of the Federal Government of the United States.

Like Members of the House of Representatives, Senators also have offices in their home states as well as in Washington, D.C.

If you have an issue or concern about local, state, and/or national policies, make it a point to bring it directly to their attention.

“The best way to not feel hopeless is to get up and do something. Don’t wait for good things to happen to you. If you go out and make some good things happen, you will fill the world with hope, you will fill yourself with hope.”

Famous American Quotes

“The only sure bulwark of continuing liberty is a government strong enough to protect the interests of the people, and a people strong enough and well enough informed to maintain its sovereign control over the government.”

Franklin D. Roosevelt

“I see Americans of every party, every background, every faith who believe that we are stronger together: black, white, Latino, Asian, Native American; young, old; gay, straight; men, women, folks with disabilities, all pledging allegiance under the same proud flag to this big, bold country that we love. That’s what I see. That’s the America I know!”

Barack Obama

“In our age there is no such thing as ‘keeping out of politics.’ All issues are political issues, and politics itself is a mass of lies, evasions, folly, hatred and schizophrenia.”

George Orwell

“The objective I propose is quite simple to state: to foster the infrastructure of democracy – the system of a free press, unions, political parties, universities – which allows a people to choose their own way to develop their own culture, to reconcile their own differences through peaceful means.”

Ronald Reagan
